Well if your smart enough to ask your smart enough to know not to venture to far out into the middle of that monster. Keep it close to the south bank and a beer in hand and you should be ok.

would any of you be crazy enought to fish a small, shallow spot on Big Maumelle close to a launch(Little Rock) this afternoon/evening. I don't mind the rain but I can't tell if there's lighting envolved or not...haven't seen any so far. The radar looks like it might pass us by 5-6:00 but if we could predict the weather or fish hitting, we'd all be rich. My boats hooked and ready to go but if i get hit by lighting and it doesn't kill me, my wife will!

Thanks for the advice, the radar usually makes my mind up for me but it can't make up it's mind today.
Everything went fine. I caught several nice crappie and missed about ten others. Either way, I caught fish and did get hit by lighting so it was a good day.
FYI Nothing wanted a jig. Just plain crappie minnows were all they wanted.
jiggin,
did you fish by the launch by the campground? I want to go fishin at lake maumelle this weekend, but i dont know of many place to fish via "foot"

Jiggen's been away from his computer, so I'll update you (based on his report to me).
Big Maumelle Creek, not the lake. Crappie were scattered but shallow. Fishing structure about three feet deep.
Not really sure where he put in, but the park launch ramp is my guess.
Sorry guys, I don't get on here as much as dad. Titleman gave about the report I would have. i am fishing the creek, I'm putting in on the gravel launch down on hwy 300. For a minute, I was doing real good but it has slowed down. I was fishing stucture at three feet with jigs n minnows. Now I'm not catching any unless I'm fishing 4-6 feet in the deepest part I can find (about 12-15ft). I'll probably try to get out there again this weekend and I'll have a better report. justin, a lot of folks fish off the bank at this launch. I had one guy say he caught three nice crappie on the bank and he was brim fishing!
