I use an 18'er, a 14'er and a 10'er out each side and 2 6 1/2'er out the back. I like to get 4 foot of separation between my crankbaits to cut down on tangles and you can make a tighter turn. Also with an 18'er out each side of my boat ,which is about 7' wide, I am covering about 43' of water on each pass.

I had some 20' BnM trolling rods but I like the 18' Wally Marshall Tightline Specials more. If the water lice would not run over them I would use planer boards then I could use all 6 1/2' rods. But they would see that orange thing with a red flag on it and think it was a target.

Well I always bungie my rods down for just that type of thing. And before I was worried about saving a crankbait I'd get the reel on the other end of the pole I think. I don't every see me using anything over 12', that's long enough unless your trying to reach it way back over into the buck brush which isn't on all lakes and is only good during the spawn.

Where is this Fish n stuff in GF? I'm up there some and need somewhere to buy more stuff!!

creekslick , thanks for the response . I totally understand it now . Man it takes a lot of money to get serious at all these different techniques . I just bought 200 dollars worth of hi tek rod holders for spider rigging and still need a couple more poles . It is not like i don't have thousands tied up in all my bass stuff and now you have me interested in the crankbait deal ...... I THINK I NEED MENTAL HELP !

You need them long poles so you can sein the lake. They are 2 handed poles for sure. Had a great time Wayne. Thanks for the trip. Btw that wake was LARGE and came out of nowhere. Sorry about that pole. I had just put good luck on it for you too.

Glad you got the guys on fish but I know it hurt loosing that pole and reel. I guess like the saying goes...crap happens!:rolleyes:
