Sounds like you caught a mess. Here I don't usually don't fish longer than 15 minutes and move on. Unless it's a big spot and producing. But then most of my spots are small and have about 400 on GPS.

Caught nine keeper crappie between 10-13.5" and two bull bluegill 8.5 and 9" at Maumelle on jigs and curly tail grubs. Caught in two hours of fishing in two holes in 16-20 feet on AGFC brush piles.

Are'nt the ones in Maumelle made of PVC?

yes, most are made of pvc. interesting, ive noticed some of them have moved this year, are near but not at the original coordinates. this week i anchored near one and got my anchor hung. had to pull it with my big motor from 25 ft to shore to get it untangled and the attractor was made with pvc with angle iron arms. didnt know any of them were made that way.
That is the reason we never anchor but drop a bouy and hold with trolling motor here. I thought all you could sink was PVC in Maumelle? On Lake Nimrod I have seen Boo or brush piles moved over after folks anchored or trollers using braided lines hung them. That is one advantage of short pallet stakebeds as fewer hangs and less folks find them. Pallets are more solid with all the rock sink into the bottom good. Sorry if we hijacked this thread.
Bigben7 hollar if you ever make it to Lake Nimrod..

If there were structures with angle iron, they were bootleg. Only AGFC was allowed to sink habitat. That being said, there is quite a bit of unsanctioned structure in there. I haven't run into any with angle iron, but nothing would surprise me. I'm not sure if PVC would be near as effective elsewhere, but the extreme lack of habitat makes them pretty deadly in Maumelle.
I would have to agree, we have some PVC out here and it has not produced with all the boo and wooden structures.
I never have fished Maumelle much but hear it has been good last year or so for Crappie. Glad someone other than myself has a low opinion of PVC structure unless that is all is allowed.

Hold on now NR, I didn't say it wouldn't work elsewhere, I just said it was unusually effective at Maumelle due to lack of other cover. I don't think fish prefer it to natural cover, but I think any cover will outfish NO cover any day. Also, be careful inviting me over your way bc I will show up!
