My dad and I really enjoy bream fishing and have been staying mostly in NE Arkansas. Have been catching lots of fish on the small side, some big enough to fillet, but still small. Any thoughts on destinations for larger gills in AR - would like to stay within an hour or two of Paragould and really prefer oxbow style lakes.
I fish Reelfoot quite a bit, but it seems to have been off this year at least for me, so wanting to explore other options. Appreciate your help and God bless.

Horseshoe, or Old Town. They both have the biggest bream I've ever seen.
Old Town? I need to check that out. Does the fishing seem better around the cypress along the banks or those out in the middle? I'd like to get in on some big bream myself.
The bream fishing is usually better on the back side (opposite the ramp) in my experience. Bass and crappie I tend to do better in the middle. Catfish are everywhere.
I've fished that lake for many years and have never even thought about bream. I may try that Saturday. Thanks
Where is Horseshoe and Old Town?
Horse shoe in is cruft ended county. Just outside Hughes, ar. Old town is in wabash Arkansas down towards elaine just south of Barton.
I've fished old town since I was 4 years old with my grandpa. He owned a house down there for a long long time. He knew every inch of that lake and turned me onto the bream down there. They have some monsters in there be sure to set your drag if using light line. They can stretch light line and even break you off.
Full moon on Monday of next week. This should be a good week for the bream. I hope I catch them bedding! Thanks for the info!
