    Default Gillham Lake

Anyone here ever fish it? I went out there yesterday figuring with it's small size and limited camp sites it might not be too bad on a holiday weekend. When I got to the ramp at about 6:45 all the parking was taken up and I had to go on a hike back to the ramp from where I had to park my truck. Found out later they were having a bass tournament out there. All in all it wasn't too bad though, would have been much crazier on Ouachita. I fished til about 3:00 pm and caught 13 crappie but they were all really good ones. Not too bad considering I hadn't fished that lake in years. Sorry, didn't take any pics, I was by myself and didn't have any good place to lay them out. Their fishing cleaning tables are a little narrow and there is no way those flopping crappie were going to pose for a photo. Anybody here ever fish Gillham?

sounds like you had good luck considering it had been awhile since you where up there,
i fish it some in the spring, mainly for bass, it can really get covered up whenever a local bass club shows up,
it has lots of crappie and a good population of saugereye

I've caught a few of those saugeye out there in the past. I've mostly fished it in the spring too, never this time of year, but it's been years. If it was just a little closer to home I would probably fish it much more often.

I have fished it a good bit for crappie. There is some good fish in the lake and some monster bream also. Wish I could go more myself. The lake is not fished to hard for crappie, but can be busy with summer and bass clubs.
