That's true J.W. but I also want to add that in addition to knowing the water you also must know the FISH and their habits. They can be here today and gone tomorrow....or suspending just under your boat at a depth you haven't thought to try!!! It can be like submarine warfare at times, LOL!!! About the minners...we used to use them many years ago but now use them very seldom. The correct jig and presentation will get the bite 95% of the time......but we do know there are exceptions to the rule at certain times and on certain lakes. A good fisherman will adjust and use what works for him!

If you ain't in that sweet spot you ain't gonna catch.

Congrads luvpt on your 1000, it seems like it was just yesterday. I have mixed feelings on minnow vs jig. If that poll is in my hand. it is jig always. If I spider rig and its not out of my way I will use minnnows on 4 poles. MG jigs on 2 poles and road runner on 2 poles. I feel like I have my bases covered till I know what they want. I fish a lot of new water and the variety of baits to start off with gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

I would usually start out more like RR on 6 poles and jigs on 2....no minners on any, LOL!
