Folks,

I'm a new member and just wanted to say hello.

I'm a Yankee carpetbagger as my best friend keeps telling me. I grew up in Pittsburgh and moved to eastern Arkansas in 1992. I spent a lot of years fishing crappie in the White River NWR, Old Town, and the oxbows along the river.

A few years ago I moved to North Little Rock. I'm still learning new waters. I spent last spring chasing stripers around on Lake Ouachita with my son, but he's moved on to the Coast Guard, so its time to find a good local crappie hole to fish with my wife and daughter. I've tried the Little Maumelle River and the Arkansas River near Burns Park with a little success, but I still haven't found a favorite spot. My daughter and I are off to scout out Gold Creek this afternoon. Boat motor needs some work, so this will just be informational, but it looks like a good day to get out of the house.

There's some great information here, and its good to see a forum that's so active. I look forward to talking with you in the future, and any pointers about local crappie waters are most welcome.

My hat's off to your son. My son recently got back from a tour of duty in Kuwait with the Coast Guard. Not enough ways to express my appreciation for what these guy's and gals do for us everyday.

Welcome to the board, from Cabot. You picked a great place to go. Gold creek may be a little slow right now, but they are there. Hats' off and a big salute to your son. I'm very proud of all our guys and gals that are protecting us. They say that WW II vets are the greatest generation but this one is running neck and neck with em.
