I know some use loop knots but I perfer a tight knot so it can be pushed towards hook point to make vertically fished jig stand out horizontally. That way it looks more natural and hook point is poised up to hook Crappie in the roof of the mouth on a light hook set.
I have used the uni knot for many years.

I used a tight knot many years ago when I fished single pole. I now use the loop knot because I think it gives a more natural action to the bait, especially during trolling, and I don't have to worry about whether or not the the knot has slipped. And it's strong.....I can't remember the last time I had a knot to fail.
I tie the improved clinch. Sometimes will use fas-snaps. On just a plain hook if I'm not in a hurry, I'll tie a snell. Never used a loop knot.

which loop on Nimrod's link do you guys mean when you say "loop knot"
There's a Non-slip loop, Perfection Loop, Surgeon’s End Loop .....which one?
The loop knot I use was taught to be by an older gentleman and it really isn't on the link. It probably would be closest to the Surgeon's End Loop than any of the others.
I use a loop knot, the pacticular one I'm not sure,,but Billy E told me how to tie it,,its super strong and works well,,It does not slip.
It would be the non slip loop knot!
