Thread: Today on Degray

Today was my B-day so I decided to try Degray again, Arlie Moore ramp. It was cold and windy, and once again fishing sucked! I managed 2 crappie that I put back since that lake needs all the help it can get! My dad is off all next week and I know one thing we won't be going to Degray lake. Sorry Agri proofs in the pudding for me. My buddy and his dad hit an OK lake today and ended up with 44....he fishes that same way I do since I taught him a lot of what he know's about crappie fishing. He told me that Blk/orange is the ticket. I said yes it usually is when your fishing a lake which has good crappie numbers, unlike degray. Sucks I can't find crappie closer to me. We are debating on either Blue Mountain lake, it's about 2hr and 15min drive either way for me and my dad. Then there's White oak which i've bass fished but never crappie fished, although I've heard good things from it....bout 2.30min for dad, and 1hr from me. If we went to that OK lake, pine creek lake, it's a 3hr drive for me and I've never been on Ouachita so that would be a shot in the dark. If your home waters are good fishery's for crappie feel lucky as I took it for granted when we were near good crappie waters.

I got out there around 9am and was going to hit the islands out in the middle but the East side of those islands are pointed, not really long banks so they offered little help for the wind. I ended up going back up in Arlie and fishing a lot of the same water I've hit before. Once again 2 coves up from boat ramp, rocky wall on East side had a boat camped there all day long....may just be the only spot in there to catch any??
