I noticed on the calendar that yesterday there was a full moon. I have always been told that fishing is better on a full moon or the few days before and after a full moon. I think it applies to a new moon as well. I have had good fishing trips around the time of a full moon but also at other times. I have also been told that the best time to go fishing is when you can. I was wondering what your experience has been.

I can tell you that the crappie I caught yesterday were all gorged on shad,,so they been feeding heavy......
I had rather fish the week before the full moon than the week after.. May be my imagination but seems like the bite is better.
If you look into lunar tables and the likes, you will find it said that 3 days before a full moon and 3 days after are the best times to fish. We fish for Crappies at night, and if you have a full moon, it's not very good fishing. There is always the exception. But % wise it's better in the dark of the moon.

I've heard it both ways. My experience it's not as good on a full moon, but I don't let that stop me from going. Kinda like the wind out of the west bite the best, out the east bite the least. I know I have been times with a wind straight from the west and didn't do that good.
Kind of like "fishing isn't any good if the cows are laying down". I tell people that those cows just don't want to go fishing. From my experience, I do think that the cow thing does reflect what the deer are doing.
Night fishing sux on a bright night. IMO the shad are too easily picked off on bright nights since the top of the water is so illuminous and the lights wont draw the fish. During the daytime I havent really noticed all that much difference. Maybe it just because I go whenever I get the chance to though.
