kerry, as cold as its been their is not enough of deep water to hold them in the bayou this time of year. they have probably went back out in the river in some of the deeper holes behind the wing dams around some pilings.

For me, I use Mr crappie hi-vis yellow. Not that it catches fish any better but because I get eye strain trying to watch the clear. Braided is fine but I have a terrible time with it wanting to wrap around my eye tip and its expensive. I use 8# and 6# on my ultra- lite. When you hang up 8# you can almost sink your boat trying to get loose. Xring started using it and is pretty high on it. 1500 yds of 8# is $7.00 at Grizzly jig. When it starts taking a set, I just drag it without anything tied to it and it is like new again. Hope this helps.
    It ain't nuttin but luck.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll keep trying. This is a hole I was fishing where I have had some luck before. I went there because the water is deep compared to rest of the area. Maybe one of these days I'll get it right and I can share a good fishing story with all of you. And thanks Jerry, I did not make it all the way to the River but did fish some pilings in 16 FOW about half way out. I have to admit I was almost 5 hours into my trip and cold without a single fish before I got to the pilings and probably did not give it a fare try.
