I dont no how many of the lakes that most people fish are super clear, but when fishing theseb clear lakes is it best to use a slip float and cast to the fish on the brush, say 20 to 25 ft down or is it ok to sit on top of brushh pile and vertical jig?

X2 less than 10 i would back off and cast, but there have been times ive fished in gin clear shallow water less than 10 feet and pull fish up out of brush and stumps i could see. Conditions were over cast, dead calm and I was very quite about every time I have found them shallow in clear water.

Up here most lakes are quite clear w/ visibility down to 6' or better. I've found that on clear, sunny days as the sun gets higher I have to change over from pushing jigs off the front to long lining, casting, or using planer boards to get away from the boat. I figure that the boat must be spooking them. JMHO.

That's why I troll with no rods shorter than 16' in the front; sometimes have 18 footers straight out the side. The clearer the water and the shallower the fish the more they will be "spooked" by the shadow of the boat. It also gets the jigs away from the noise of the trolling motor.
