I'm not a big fan of a radio in the boat either....unless it's to listen to the Razorbacks (Football, Basketball, or Baseball).

For crappie a bang on a bare bottom boat is like someone standing behind you shooting a shotgun it even sends a message to brain as saying dum2ss.But if you keep bangging in the same spot crappie are like a stupid whitetail it will come in to see what all the bangging is about.
When I took all the whistles out of the boat the only thing I mess is the radio, fish can hear the beep beep and the hum of the TM b/c its under water.I like listen to the golden oldies and after over 20 years I'm going to put it back in the boat.I do not think sound above water if keep normal will not spook fish only telling them something is different no spookly.
For all the whistles and a loud mouth in the back of the boat dropping and a banging on things if they are enjoying them selfs its ok with me.HUMMMM could it be thats the reason I like fishing by myself most of the time humm.
Just a thought, when I cast a 1/32 can they hear the splash it makes and chase after it,do they know the differents in a deep deep a hum of a TM and a bang or a song.
I'm like a crappie don't ever ever walk up behind me and say something or god forbid touch me I'll spook real fast.
Dang it snowed again last night

Nothing wrong with peace and quiet for either me or the fish cheers get enough noise everywhere else in this world. What makes fishing so relaxing is the absence of everyday noise.

The only intraboat sound I want to hear is the occasional thump coming from the ice chest....

I read a agfc fishery guy said they shocked more crappie idling a gas motor than by electric trolling motor. My DSI seems to agree.

You never know until you go,somedays some sounds scare and some days it doesn't,depends huh.
Afew years ago I was fishing a tree top close to the bank,it was deer season and I had the lake to myself.I tightline when useing a long pole and the crappie were playing cat and mouse. They would slowly pull the rod tip straight down and on hookset nothing, had to wait until I seen the line move out to one side before setting the hook. Its was a slow bite catching one now and then playing cat and mouse,it had snowed that night and snow was still hanging on tree limbs falling off every once and awhile, pretty morning. What happen next wasn't funny at the time, wasn't no wind about the only sound was snow falling out in the woods,a few birds.A deer hunter fire off a round that seem to come from a cannon. The shock wave knocked snow off the tree limbs for 30 mins..After I got my self back togather after beening scared half to death the bite that changed.I will never know but I think that shock wave knock some food off the tree top b/c they hit so hard I thought they were going to break the rod tip.....never know until you go.
