That's why I could never be a wildlife officer in Arkansas. It's strictly black or white to them....no shades of gray allowed. If one of their rules has been broken either intentionally or not a ticket must be written. No empathy, compassion, feeling sorry for, innocent mistakes allowed if you are an Arkansas game and fish officer. You must be willing to write an 87 yr-old great-grandmother a ticket for no out of state license if she (although she wasn't fishing) just inadvertently handed someone a fishing pole on their own dock at Chicot!! I'm sorry but I just can't be THAT sorry a person. BTW, it isn't so bad in Louisiana. Just a year ago a buddy and I were fishing in his boat and forgot one of the life jackets still in the truck. We were checked by two WO's and they had no problem letting us go back to the truck to retrieve the other life jacket. What amazed me was that they even offered to loan us one while we fished if we couldn't find the one in the truck! Now to me, That's PUBLIC SERVICE the way it was intended as well as being a decent human being! An Arkansas officer would have thought he had batted a home run if that had happened on one of our lakes here! Like I said, I obey the rules but AGFC doesn't get any extra help from me....period! I have many other examples which are just as shocking. And I really hate to be that way but it comes from experiences with that agency (and no I have not personally ever gotten a ticket).
