Default Found some good ones this morning

well my fishing buddy bugged out on me and decided branson might be more fun than fishing. Can't say I blame her if i didn't have to work I would have went with her. I fished a oxbow off the white again this morning. Fishing was good and had a limit by 8 a.m. Caught some nice ones mainly in 5 fow with anything chartreuse in color. I tried them umbrella jigs out this morning to see if I could catch bigger fish with bigger jigs and I am still undecided on that but they did catch fish. Good luck to all that fish this weekend, tight lines and big slabs on the end.

Should be able to snag something with that many jigs in the water. All I can say is the umbrellas are my only bait from Nimrod to Peckerwood Lake. Not bad limiting out by 8 am. Hands Clapping

LMBO NIMROD, I thought I would show the spider on the front of my boat. Now I just need to grow 6 more arms so I can feel the THUMP. I make it a challenge for the fish Nimrod, I like to run dummy rods with no jig to keep the fish guessing which one to bite. the snagging is the tricky part especially when I get them Limb brims. Most I had tangles was 5 at one time. Didn't break a rod though thank goodness.

Just curious, what makes the umbrella jigs better than anyone else? What colors work best for ya'll?

I have used them a little. If you compare them to the others they are a little more profile for the fish to look at and there is a theory bigger lure bigger fish. They cost more than the soutern pro tubes. I am not sure they are worth it IMO. I just like trying different jig bodies out. I have some in the bobby garland that I like but I can find most colors in the souther pro. I buy direct and in bulk of 100 so they are cheaper that way. wish I had best colors. that is one advantage to using several poles because I can fish many colors to find out what they want the day I am fishing. My favorites are elect chicken, black/chart, anything chart in color, pinks of any color, and purples.

Thanks bowhunter! curious to hear back from Nimrod as well. I grew up fishing the clear lakes of Arkansas but fish mainly in MS now living in Memphis.

Here water is usually off color and baitfish are big. The larger profile of the umbrella is not the only reason. I perfer heavier jig as I tight line. The Umbrella tube will accept a 1/8 oz round head jig inside. You pop the hook eye through and tie on line, you will have to cut line to replace tube but it lasts much longer. Not unusual for me to fish more than a day with one unless I break off. The heavier jig is easier to unhang too. I pay more for the tubes but save on the leadheads as unpainted round heads are usually cheap. Sure beats paying upwards of a dollar for hand tied baits.
