    Default Pre-spawn, Spawn, or Post-Spawn?

Fished from 10ft to 25ft deep this morning and managed to catch five smaller crappie. Trolled up to the shallows to find TONS of crappie and bass swimming around in less than 6 ft of water.

But they wouldn't bite anything! Tried several colors of jigs, jigs tipped with minnows, and just minnows under a slip cork. Nothing worked. So are they spawning, about to spawn, or just finished? Also, HOW IN THE THUNDER CAN I CATCH THEM?

Gonna try some bass fishing tonight.....I'm about disgusted with the poor results we've been having lately.

    Anyone have any luck today?

Just got off the water and had the same results...threw every jig, minnow, nibble combo I could come up with and caught 1.

Same here too. We fished all morning on Brewer and only caught 4 with one male weighing right under 2lbs. The other three were small. I'm really wondering when this is going to pick up. Water temp was around 54.7 all day so obviously that has to come up some. Oh well, maybe this strom system coming through Sunday night will be the last for a bit so the sun can warm these waters up.
A man is truly blessed, when he returns home from fishing to be greeted by the best catch of his life.

Same here in NEA talked to several that had the same luck. We fished all day with one bite, same spot yesterday and last week we were catching several.

Water temp was 63.8 today at Degray. It's frustrating when you can see them, but can't catch them.

At times when fish are up shallow in clear water you may need to use a casting rod. One year fish has suspended above the brushpiles and water was unusually clear. Our jiggin was not working. I had to fish a casting rod with a cork fishing 3 to 4' deep over brushpiles in 10 to 12' of water. Those things would strike and you could sometimes see the white flash of their sides when you set the hook setting 40 or 50 ' away. But ever pull up to the brush and you'd never get a nibble.

Same thing with bass fishing yesterday. Fished most of the day and caught one little dink---in an area where a limit would almost have been guaranteed. Couldn't figure it out. They just wouldn't bite. The son-in-law caught 9 in a couple of hours Friday afternoon, but Saturday they just wouldn't cooperate. Oh well.....that's fishingThumbs Up
