If you have time, I would pay $300 for 2 people and go to Sardis Lake in MS. with John Woods. My friends went 2-3 weeks ago and caught 59 with more that 2 dozen over 2lbs. Just putting that out there.

Making my annual trip back home to fish for 3 days with my dad. Mom and Dad live in Jonesboro and we want to fish within 1.5-2 hrs of home each day so I can spend time with other family at night. Just had a crazy idea last night and wandered if there were any good, affordable guides within that part of the state?
Any info would be appreciated. Trip is scheduled the week before Memorial Day. We plan to fish Wed-Fri. before the weekend gets completely cranked up. I know there are some great guide options a little further out from Jtown, but we are kind of limited on travel time.
Thanks
no matter what I'm doing, I've got hunting or fishing on my mind...

Crappie are snobby..... Why can't they be easy to catch...Like bass?
I would vote for sardis as well
Google maps shows this as 122 miles. Two hours and 1 minute. From Jonesboro to Sardis.

If you have the time and money Sardis is the place to go. If you want to stay close there are 4-5 lakes close that hold fish. (nothing like Sardis)As the dat gets closer stay in touch and maybe the river will be down by then.

Thanks guys for the recommendation. Sardis may actually be worth that drive.
Another option is to go to Maddox Bay and camp in one of the cabins there. I have been looking on Google Earth scoping out all the old lakes we use to fish off the bay. We also recently got a report from some folks down there last week saying that AGFC has bought up some of formerly private land around some lakes down there and has put ramps in some concrete, some not. Has anyone else heard this or know this to be true? We used to drag a little Jon or use a duck boat to fish some of the landlocked lakes in late spring, but we would much rather launch our own boat and try out several lakes down there if we could. Any info on lakes to fish there that we can launch directly into or motor into would be greatly appreciated. My dad is getting too old for that much work![]()

I've heard the water is really high and access to some is not good, but the fish are biting.
