I got into some white bass really for the first time in my life on my last trip to Greer's Ferry. They can ruin you just like a limit of crappie. I did know enough to cut the red stuff out of the meat. No one knew the difference when I cook them.
    Way to go Fishbasket.
Oh BTW. I bet you people in East Texas know what a white pearch is.

The sand bass my Dad used to call them rock bass. Some folks get the sand bass mixed up with the striper, but again two different fish.
A rock bass is more of a green color and stripes are darker green than a white bass. The white bass is a good name because it is whiter than most bass.
White Perch is what some of the older folks call Crappie and now we have white crappie and black crappie and we have some shell crackers in our waters also.
I have caught sand bass when fishing for crappie, but I need to get some white bass and try them out--Believe it or not I will bet that some folks do not know the difference in a sand bass and a white bass.
Do you guys consider the two the same fish.
From everything I have read the sand bass and the white bass are the same. Most folks call them white's except those in Texas and Oklahoma.

    White perch--

Aquatic Nuisance Species: Some states consider the white perch to be a nuisance species due to its ability to destroy fisheries. They have been associated with the declines in both walleye and white bass populations because they feed heavily on baitfish utilized by those species and out-compete them for food and space. Many states have enacted laws forbidding possession of live white perch. Additionally, these states recommend not releasing captured white perch back into the water in order to help control the spread of this species.[1]

Last season I got in a bunch of the yellow bass--had a yellow belly, but looked exactly like the white bass. These I got into were all small, maybe 1/2 lb. They sure mess up the crappie fishing if in the same area.

See the yellow bass--those bold green lines on the fish remind me of a sand bass---I do not remember the lines on a white bass being so bold, plus they are a larger fish than the yellow bass.
