    Default Lake Conway Synopsis

Brought home 3/4 of a gallon of bream fillets caught on day 1. The second trip we released all caught. Went by Bates and took a look at the Ozark crappie poles at $49.95 each but didn't pull the trigger. They also have bandits at $4.79 which is competitive with most anywhere. Went to Gander Mountain and met up with a heckuva nice fella by the name of CrappieKG who may have been carrying contraband crappie back to an undisclosed located in Arkansas:D By the way KG, the same poles were 5 bucks cheaper at Academy. I was fortunately able to take mine back and get the lower price. They also have 10ft pinnacles with a reel for 15 bucks at Academy, but they may be like fishing with a piece of rebar. Still, it seemed like a great deal. Dug through father-in-laws tackle box and jacked all the crankbaits that looked like they would catch a crappie. I also dug through his 60 year old metal tackle box and took some pics of some interesting stuff which I will put up later. Had a great weekend and saw all kinds of wildlife, some even had fur and lived in the forrest:D

This is RCC reporting from the no fish catching side of the tracks. Good day.

The next time I pass through heading south, I'm going to pick up another pole At Academy. Trying to upgrade my trolling gear. I usually compare prices at both Gander and Academy before I buy, alot of the times Academy has the better prices.

Hope you get into fish, I'm going eary in the morning.

I saved myself about $40 buying my 4 poles at Academy instead of Gander Mountain. I also rigged two of them with those $15 reels. They are doing the job so far.

Today was a maintenance day so I didn't fish this morning. Maybe I'll be able to get out late today before I hit the salt mine tomorrow. Hope you've already caught a bunch this morning.

DRPEPPER, you are right about saving a few bucks at Academy. At the present I'm pulling cranks with my B&M jig poles. I would like to get set up with 2 sets, 1 for cranks and the other for spider rigging.

get the stiffest pole you have and it needs to be stiff and tie 4 ft of 20 lb test mono on it and put a spinnerbait of chart or white with a big blade on it and run that thang around those cypress trees and knees and tupelo trees lining the banks of the st. francis and hold on. just put your trolling motor on slow to medium and go upstream. the man behind you will catch as many or more than you will in front of the boat. as my ole uncle used to say, "it's a productive way of fishing." it's doodle socking at it's best. and right now is the prime time on the st. francis to do it.
