Default Where did the grass go...

    On Ouachita???
I spent most of the week there and couldn't find any fish because I couldn't find any weeds. I hope it is a natural phenomenon. It was like going to a new lake. I never did learn a pattern.
When I lived I Texas, Conroe was a fantastic fishing hole until the lice got their way and they killed the weeds with carp. Had to re-learn that lake too.

The rumor has it that the Game & Fish and Corp has killed it off with chemicals or have released a bug that eats the moss. I fish Ouachita a lot and the grass is almost all gone in the places that I use to fish. No more fishing the inner or outer edges.

The lack of grass is likely due to the water conditions over the past couple of years and cold weather last winter. The high water doesnt allow as much light penetration. The same thing has happened to the grass in Degray Lake. The AGFC or COE hasnt sprayed or plant any bugs. If they would have done something that massive, it would have been public knwoledge and would be extremely expesnsive, (hundreds of million of dollers).

Actually, at least with Degray, the COE has used a bug. I forget what it was called, but they DID kill the grass on purpose. I was told this directly from a COE biologist.

That's it. I just couldn't remember what they called it. And the pickeral had definately gotten worse as the grass took over the lake (Degray).
