I know when some of you are cleaning your gar that you have brought home after a day of fishing that you look at the eggs and think how tasty they might be, but I wouldn't recommend eating them.

I saw that on the news....I wouldn't have guessed they were toxic.....but I wouldn't have cleaned a gar any way.
Gar eggs are poison from what my grandpa told me years ago. The meat is white and tasty though.![]()

Hull out the fish and fillet the back. It is kinda like cutting backstraps from a deer. Two boneless white fillets that are then cut up into steaks. Fry just like you would Catfish.![]()
