Default Fishing Report for Those Who Care

I realize every lake is different, but for those of you who care...

The lake I'm fishing isn't that deep. 20 foot holes around the creek channels are the deepest that it gets. The water is stained and it has a large amount of trees. It's actually incredibly similar to Lake Conway.

I caught a reasonable number of crappie this weekend. Half were blacks and half whites. The only time I catch blacks on this lake is when the spawn is about to occur because the blacks congregate up in the coves.

Early last week I was catching most of my fish in 10-15 ft of water and the past few days I caught the most fish in 5-8 feet of water. The fish are moving up in the coves, and although they aren't up in the shallows yet or all the way up in the cove, they are headed that way.

I also saw some enlarged blood vessels in a few of the females and the sacks were starting to turn orange away from the yellow.

Also, one male I caught had a ripped up tale, due to fanning a bed somewhere.

Once it gets warm this week it should be on. I think the cold is the only thing that has kept the fish from spawning as of right now. The next week or two should be money.

Froman, those fish need some warmer weather . The water temps here are in the 40's most places. It will take some warm nights and sunny days to bring it up into the high 60's. What technique and bait did you use to catch your fish Fro?

    Fish, I mean...NIMROD,

I was yoyoing. Try not to hurl curse words and insults at me. :D

Used minnows fishing near the top since the moon was bright and full.

Water temp on the lake is still cool, but the fishing is starting to pick up a little anyways as the fish are staging getting ready for the big push to the shallows.

Of course, the lake I'm fishing ain't nothing similar to Nimrod, the big deep lakes.

Fro, Nimrod is basically shallow except for the River channel. That is unless we get a flood and it gets over 30' high. A few warm days and nights may get them turned on here real soon. Just hope we don't get another flood this spring.

What was the water temp on the lake you were fishing? Still 39-42 on Greers Ferry.
