Welcome to Crappie.com. As has been mentioned, I guide on Lake Greeson and I'll be happy to point you in the right direction whether or not you wish to hire a guide. The crappie will likely be in transition in early March. If we get a good warm spell there will be some black crappie scouting in the shallows but we'll probably be doing most of our fishing in 12 to 20-feet of water and fishing 8 to 15-feet deep but that all depends on the weather and water temps.
I would definitely recommend the long-poles - 10 and 11-foot are all I use for crappie.
