Just got back from checking to see where I could unload in the oxbows I usually fish and they all are froze over and still up a little.Lake charles is the only place that has alot of open water, just don't care about fishing L.C. anymore.Don't know why,I used to fish it all time and caught alot of crappie.Caught several in the 1 1/2 lb range and some 2 lbers years ago,I'm sure they are still there like that.I remeber one day breaking ice unloading the boat plus had to break ice out about 20 feet to open water. It was froze 20 feet out from the banks and more in alot of spots and snowing so hard you had to turn your head sideways to keep it from filling up your ears lol. They were biteing so fast you couldn't keep you pole in the water. The bite seemed the harder it would snow the harder the thump with started out as a light tick.Don't get the wrong I enjoy fishing and do not like short fishing trips no matter how good or bad the weather is.The wind had a good chop on the water and you had to face into the wind with trolling motor speed running from 3 to 4.The reason I remeber it will is b/c I was not dressed for this type weather.I'm just glad that was my shortest fishing day in my life. With in 1 1/2 hours I was trying to put the boat on the trailer with a limit of 1 /2 to 2 lb crappie. When I say trying to put the boat on the trailer I was so cold I could barely turn the key on to start my truck.I guess back in the days stupid is what stupid did,as to this day even though I'M DRESSED for any type weather nomatter how hot or cold.Every time I pass by Lake charlies and look out across the lake where I was fishing a cold chil runs up my back nomatter how cold or hot it is lol.Cabin fever huh.....
