    Default River Crappie

Hey guys, just a quick question. Every time I cross the Arkansas River Bridge on I 430, I look down on those big cypress trees standing in the water at the end of the bridge. I rarely see anyone fishing those trees. Is it that hard to get in there, is it too shallow, or maybe too dangerous to cross the river or what. Just wondering. Tight lines and Happy New Year everyone.

I think you may be referring to the lake on the North side of the river. There is no river access. I've been told that it is privately owned and I don't know of any access points. I've tried to find out who to contact with no luck. Not much help I know.

I sure would like to get in there too. It looks like it has great potential.

I think a club has it leased. I have never checked on it either. It gets covered with floating stuff sometimes.

I just checked Google Earth. It is called Rosenbaum Lake. From the view on Google Earth it looks like the river can get into it but, as said above, it would be a long and apparently difficult journey. However, with all the water we have right now, it might be possible. Even so, if it is leased the powers that be might not welcome you with open arms. :D

    I think I'll stay away.

Hmmmm, forbidden fruit is always tastiest (that's what got Eve into hot water). There has to be a way in there. Wonder if it is used by duck hunters or what. I bet it is crawl'n with crappie, have to club em off the side of the boat. Thanks guys Happy New Year to all and tight lines.

I think I read someplace several years ago, that in Arkansas, if you were able to float it you were legal to be there. In other words if you put in upstream, in flowing waters, and stay on the water you can cross other properties without being a tresspasser, so long as you don't get out onto the dry land, but if it is a land locked hole of water and is posted then you should not be there. But I just had a second thought. Below Millwood Lake is Beards Lake, if you put in Beards Lake and go to the end it hits Yellow Creek, which eventually goes into (Very Private), Grassy Lake. At Yellow Creek there is a small bridge and I think from that point on it is posted. Does anyone know what the rule really is?

You are correct. There was a professional bass fisherman this past summer that was on Beaver lake and it was flooded. He decided to take this creek as far as he could and was on a farmers piece of land. Someone took a shot at him not once but twice. He laid down in his boat for a time and got the hell out. They sent in the state police and did not find who shot at him. It is legal to go anywhere the water takes you as long as you do not leave the boat.
