thanks for the compliments on the rods guys! the pics dont do the rods justice. those snake overlays have got very popular. probably 90% of the rod orders i get are requesting snake overlays. it turns a rod into artwork and a conversation piece on the boat ramp or while wading a river. also have been doing abalone ( pearl material fron inside a sea shell) overlays that look very cool.

yes in arkansas its illegal to kill any snake, venomous or nonvenonous unless it "pose's a reasonable threat or endangerment to persons." . a reasonable threat would be a snake in your yard but not a snake you see laying out on the side of the road. i have killed several copperheads here at my house because they get up on our porch and lay out and even had one come in the house one time when my son left the door open. we also had 2 snakes fall off from the top of the shop door when sliding it open. one of those times was a copperhead that fell across my wifes shoulder and didnt come off until she had ran close to 40 yards screaming and yelling and the very next day a chicken snake fell off of the door on me. we used to kill a lot of snakes in our barn but i got me a barn cat and it keeps the snakes ran off. we actually probably see more snakes at night in our driveway than we do anywhere else. with a 4 yr old boy , i am gonna kill any snake in my yard.

my rattlesnake skin that i use to overlay on rod blanks comes from out west from a comercial hyde dealer. even if i had rattlesnakes here at my house i would still buy them because i just dont want to handle them. i had 2 copperheads in the freezer that i killed on my front porch and it freaked me out skinning them. dead or alive, i am still scared of them, lol
