Stress Kills! Go fishing. It's a matter of life and death.
Better dress warm though...or the search party will find you frozen like a statue jiggin' for crappie.

Went to check on battery charger on boat this morning walkers creek north of basshaven bridge on lake Erling was bank to bank ice never saw it frozen before I heard a unusual noise looked up to see a crappie fisherman breaking ice with boat and steady jigging did not have heart to ask if he was doing any good I sure did admire that fellow but I am not breaking ice to fish there will be another day considering this global warming thing.
noslab.
Went to check on Palarm Creek's ramp Thursday and it was iced in pretty good but I could see were the someone had busted the ice and launched a boat. I think I am gonna wait until it thaws a little before I go again. I plan on building my first crappie condo this afternoon we are going to do 1 for practice in Enola and then take some material to the lake and build the rest on the shore.
nothing beats time on the water
Just got back from checking to see where I could unload in the oxbows I usually fish and they all are froze over and still up a little.Lake charles is the only place that has alot of open water, just don't care about fishing L.C. anymore.Don't know why,I used to fish it all time and caught alot of crappie.Caught several in the 1 1/2 lb range and some 2 lbers years ago,I'm sure they are still there like that.I remeber one day breaking ice unloading the boat plus had to break ice out about 20 feet to open water. It was froze 20 feet out from the banks and more in alot of spots and snowing so hard you had to turn your head sideways to keep it from filling up your ears lol. They were biteing so fast you couldn't keep you pole in the water. The bite seemed the harder it would snow the harder the thump with started out as a light tick.Don't get the wrong I enjoy fishing and do not like short fishing trips no matter how good or bad the weather is.The wind had a good chop on the water and you had to face into the wind with trolling motor speed running from 3 to 4.The reason I remeber it will is b/c I was not dressed for this type weather.I'm just glad that was my shortest fishing day in my life. With in 1 1/2 hours I was trying to put the boat on the trailer with a limit of 1 /2 to 2 lb crappie. When I say trying to put the boat on the trailer I was so cold I could barely turn the key on to start my truck.I guess back in the days stupid is what stupid did,as to this day even though I'M DRESSED for any type weather nomatter how hot or cold.Every time I pass by Lake charlies and look out across the lake where I was fishing a cold chil runs up my back nomatter how cold or hot it is lol.Cabin fever huh.....
When I used to bass fish we looked forward for a heavy snow day,WE would pull buzzbaits across the water at a fairly high rate. You would think old bucket mouth would be to slow in cold weather to blow up on a buzzbait.Thats not so,I've offened wondered if the snow was warmer then the water it is landing in and making a small warm water line.Nowdays tho with better clothes made to with stand bad weather we had rather keep our acorns my the stove.Snow days are good fishing days, just be carefull and not slip out of the boat.
My problem is to see to tie the hook; I got to put my glasses on. Then the snow covers my glasses and I can’t see.
One of them been there, done that.
