Spoke to 2 other fisherman and they say it's time for the barn-doors to come out but you have to find them - well I need a "barn-door" detector cuz it's not happening for me.
Then went to Lake Monticello and found about 6 boats in a hole about 40ft deep. We caught 8 keepers on rosies at 35ft. I like this lake, but don't know it very well and with every other bite we bring up yellow bass about a 3/4lb each. Must go back again soon.
A feller told us if we catch a fish to keep it and not to release it because if you bring them up from 40-50ft they won't survive near the surface, is this true anybody?
that is true starting Dec 1st...all crappie up to 20 must be kept because of the inflated swim bladder pulling them up from the deeper water....I've caught a good many in the 2.5 lb range in that deeper water this fall already with one going 2lbs 12oz and measuring almost 17"....give it another try sometime....the creel numbers will go up as the water temps cool and the fish move closer to the bottom
