    Thumbs up Milestone

10 years ago at this moment, I was in the Conway Hospital Cath Lab, being shocked back to life (3 times) after having the "Widowmaker" heart attack........Left Anterior Descending Myocardial Infarction. Only 4% of the folks that have this live.

Last 10 have been great. I got to retire, although I'll be destitute at this rate, in about another 2 years!!! Ha..... I've traveled and met some great folks.........including all of y'all at Crappie Camp, and even got to fish with one of you.... I'm having some pretty serious family issues now, but somehow we'll get through them. My health is starting to have a few problems, but I'm upright and mobile and can still fish at least ONE rod at a time!!!

This place helps. I realize some of you ain't quite sure what to make of me sometimes (I ain't either, truth be told)... but I enjoy reading about everyone's exploits and banter, a lot. And I'm learning a lot too.

Anyway, glad to still be around, and still be around here.

    Thanks.

    Bill

Glad you are still around!! Most of us are in the shape and of the age to have the widowmaker. Do you remember any symptoms you can share? DP

BP started edging up for about 6 months prior. (It's starting to do it again, so I've GOT to diet soon)....

That morning I woke up, got up about 7:40 a.m. and ate a bowl of cereal before work (I worked at home, started at 8:00 a.m., at computer/phone/desk). It tasted awful. Different.

I felt weird. I'd had an allergic reaction to stuff before, and had to go to hospital. It felt more like that than anything else. Wife was on phone to our daughter, and was in her nightgown. I told her I felt funny. She asked if I needed to go to doctor/hospital, and I hemmed and hawed and said no. No pain yet.

Came back in here (same office now), and sat down, and felt worse and worse. Walked back into back room, she's still on phone. I told her "I guess I better go to hospital"........at that point, I'm still thinking allergic reaction of some kind........ She went to get dressed, and it hit me. WHAM. I fell to my knees, holding on to pool table side. It was like an elephant was swinging a sledge hammer and hitting me in the chest about every 20 seconds. I screamed for her to hurry up. (Conway was going through some kind of EMT contract dispute, and I remembered that.....and we're hard to find, so she drove me rather than calling 911). On the way, I got the traditional nausea and throwing up and sweating....

I thought LATER that I should have chewed a few aspirin, but it never occurred to me to do that at the time. Somehow Mario Andretti.......I mean my wife.....made it to Conway Hospital (nestled in an absolutely IMPOSSIBLE area to get to quickly), and they started working on me. My cousin's boy's wife was tech in Cath Lab, so she has told me all that occurred. They got two stents in, AFTER shocking me back to life 3 times.....and I made it. And here I am.

You are lucky. I told Mrs DP it was time for me to go to the ER about 2:30 one morning. She asked me if I thought she had time to wash her hair first. DP

    HAHAHA.

I've joked many times since that at the time, I felt like Jeannie was trying on every outfit she had. I was literally hanging onto the side of the pool table, screaming, on my knees, and about to go down further........and she'd keep hollering "OK I'M COMING" but she never did it seemed like.

Man, I hope the next one doesn't happen in CMJ's boat..........(as if I'll ever get to grace the back end of said floater!!).........cause he wouldn't stop fishin' till he had 20..........not that I blame him.

Congrats on the milestone, watched my partner go to his knees a couple of months ago, scary stuff but he's better now and watching things a lot closer.
