Beautiful! The little ones seem more colorful to me .
I’d love take a trip to salt water . It’s been way too long for me .
I have taken an ultralight with me while my brother and I used to fish the coastal marshes here in Georgia out of my 15’ Jon boat . We mainly fished for seatrout , with an occasional flounder or redfish mixed in .
Our regular tackle was 6# on a 1000-2500 reel . Light action to medium light rods .
I usually fished a 1/8 or 1/16 jig with a 3” curlytail . Swimming or hopping jigs on an out going tide .
Fun days , I miss them . Please keep posting SW trips .

What the heck kind of fish are they, anyway? It's amazing the variety and species of fish in the oceans compared to our fresh water experience.

Hello, thanks for chiming in! The ocean holds many species, 6poundtest, way more than one person will ever encounter in lifetime infact. Until recently my saltwater species of choice had always been the larger and often time of good table fares like cod, halibut, rockfish, and mackerel when chasing. These fishes had always been nuisance at best, often overlooked by saltwater anglers for their lack of commercial appeal. Now they are quite popular as target fish for the European LRF (Light Rock Fishing) community. As for me once becoming a CDC member of the Ultralight sub-forum, multispecies fishing had shed new possibilities. I no longer have the urge to bait a surf rod and dunk it for hours on in just to catch a meal. These little surfperch, kelp bass, and sea sculpin just to name a few will now let me have chance pursuing with line as light as 4lb test and will put quite a bend on even my medium light travel rod.
