Here is an example of what Randy is talking about, I encountered and struggled with this but have settled on everything equal to and less than 4lb can be used in my arsenal of rods relatively safely with proper drag settings.

Confusing yes, so the 4lb rule stands in my stable, for UL I am for the most part satisfied and happy with my direct connection to said freshwater fishes. No salty guys in my neck of the woods, but the bullies still take a lip ring when they can, part of the fun and I don’t strive to be the hero. As always your mileage may vary.
