Ok, so I stopped back by the creek culvert on Wednesday afternoon and took a Mebaru Rod with some Berkeley Crystal Super Line in 2lb test (found it on a sale table) and the Ajing Triple Cross rod with the 2lb Nanofil. Both of these lines float but fishing less than 6ft deep it really doesn’t factor in bait presentations. I tied directly to the 1/48oz jig ( no shock leader) with both lines and fished both interchangeably. The water color was still heavy stained. The first two fish on the Mebaru rod were Largemouth, one with shoulders and one smaller. The rod and line did great with the larger fish.

The next two fish on the Ajing rod were smaller, Crappie, but a 12in one gave me a fit for sure.

With the two super lines being about equal and tying directly to the jig, a bonus rod comparison was easily done. My thoughts, same as the resident guru here, Mebaru rod soft action tip but plenty of backbone to tame the average freshwater quarry of Temperate Bass and Panfish. Ajing rod, stiff tip but a little more sensitive to the fish species targeted above, maybe a bit better for the Bass and fun with the Bluegill. I plan on fishing the sinking JDM 3lb braid with the Fluorocarbon shock leader a little more, had it out for a brief spin only once this winter. Satisfied so far with my rod choices, the line and knot thing are still a work in progress.
