No they will die off about 1st week of July. I wish they could live all year below Normandy. The Duck River is very diverse and has a huge forage base for fish. Full of Shad but it also has tons of craw fish. The trout they stock in November are really fat by end of May. There is 7 miles of fishing and about 3500 trout per mile. That’s a shame they die out... I guess that’s one luxury we have here with South Holston River so close to me... I should really fish it more... I received my 6’1” corto on Saturday and I am excited to catch some trout with it... it has a nice stiff feel to it but the tip has some flex... feels light action to me... should work perfect for stream trout and wading the river for smallies, sunnies, and red eyes... did also get in my daiwa exist, shipment of trout magnets, and a bunch of various sizes of the daiwa jigheads... thanks again for your help Alphahawk! Maybe I’ll get to test something out soon! Did toss a 1.5 gram jighead the other day on the maxima 2lb and didn’t feel like I was getting as good a distance as I thought I would with the 2004 luvias and the tict icecube rockin finesse... do you feel I would get more distance with one of the ester lines from Japan?
Been a while since I used Maxima.....but I have no problems casting with my Rockin Finesse. I can cast a 1 gram 60 feet with mine using ester. I have not measured it when casting nylon mono but it cast well with nylon.Quote:

Took the 6’1” corto out today to a small trout stream... I fished for around 30 minutes and caught 7 on a white trout magnet... My parents wanted me to keep 4 trout for them so I have some cleaning to do in a moment... the rod performed great and it is going to be a joy to fish with... the trout were basic stockers in the 10-12 inch range...
Good catch, I took the boat out today to Cherokee and caught some Slabs, wind sent me home though. Hard to fish UL stuff when it is white capping!!

The Majorcraft Triple Cross and the X-Ride have been getting all the fishing time lately, so this afternoon I switched the Luvias with the sinking Braid over to the 7.6ft Shimano Soare and trotted off down to the creek after supper. The water is crystal clear and still falling, and the bite has fell off a little due to this Redbud Winter we have been experiencing.

A beautiful tree with small purple blooms and a heart shaped leaf, our first native blooming tree of the Spring. Anyway, I retied the braid and fluorocarbon leader at the house, hoping that I could test my three turn surgeons knot out on some Panfish and Bass. First fish up, a medium sized Smallmouth, a long lanky fellow that enjoyed the buggy looking bait immensely.

A few little Bluegill then this rascal pulled a few squeals of drag and became Red Ear #2 of the year.

The Luvias is awesome, get one if you can, well worth it. A hard thump a few minutes later the test of equipment and knot tying was on, a Largemouth.

They do have torque, as Alphahawk states, but everything performed as it should and he got his picture made and returned to terrorize more Creek creatures. You can see the bait in the upper part of the shot, he did knock my Wax worm tippet off. Last fish of the night had a face that only a mother could love, a danged old whisker fish.

He fought harder than the Bass, and all knots held. I enjoyed the outing with the Soare, it performed flawlessly, very sensitive to the bites I did have, and bent nicely under the load. For the price, a good rod to have in the arsenal.

Nice catch. I must have missed it somewhere but what pound rating.....brand, is your sinking braid? I cant find any light stuff. Smallest I can locate is 8# test. Needing some 4# test or under. No doubt in my military mind the Luvias is hands down best made in Japan reel for the money. They are sweet.Quote:
