Well for me when it comes to technology it simply frustrates me when I can see them and you can try everything and if they ain’t bitting they just ain’t bitting. Livescope want make them bite. So I don’t think we have a lot to worry about here. I have been fishing since 1963 and it still takes the same formula. You got to love it, you got to go as often as you can, you got to have patience, and be keen enough on picking up on what works on what days. I think technology is really great when you go to new unknown places to help you figure them out. Other than that for what that technology cost you can go fishing a lot, but a lot of bait, need I say more. Just a little FYI, in addition to my love of fishing for crappie I also love floating small creeks catching creek bass. I still fish with the same baits my uncle taught me to fish for them with back in early 70’s. My older brother on the other hand use to watch Bill Dance and has a storage room full of tackle boxes of the latest lures and he still can’t out catch me with my 7 favorite baits. So that’s how I view technology. Keep fishing !

This is funny. Before you give an opinion on livescope you must fish with a pro. Watch them target large crappie in open water. I’ve been with the crappie master national champ. Fishing Martin and Grenada we only targeted the larger fish and limited out shortly. This will devastate the larger fish population in a few years. I know people that couldn’t catch fish that are limiting with the livescope. If you can play video games you can dominate. Guys this is not about being a good fisherman anymore.

I stare at a computer screen all day. I have no interest in going fishing ... and staring at a computer screen all day.

While I agree with Bama and have a young friend who only knows how to fish looking at a fishing screen. I also agree death4disco. I am right there with you my friend. My question to all is what do you do to stop progress? For the most part Bama you spoke of pro’s well most all new products that goes on the market for fishing and hunting and are first given to the so called pro’s to get an edge on other so called pro’s to win rather than fish. In my younger years I fished bass tournaments on a bass fishing circuit only part time never full time but we did have sponsors. So once these products are proven by the pro’s now the big companies that sponsors these pro’s start a marketing campaign and use the name of these so called pro’s to promote the sale of the new gadget to what now the pro’s have proven. It’s even easier now with YouTube! Then the folks who can afford these new products purchases them. Those who cannot wait till they can. Most probably have trolling motors with spot lock. I only have 40 foot anchor lines still. Progress of technology is all too expensive for my taste and that’s ok. But we can promote ethical fishing by only keeping what you can eat or let our greed do what has been done to so many other outdoor sports. If you look at some of my older post you will see large crappie. We could have kept our limit or even over but we didn’t. We only kept what our family could eat. We don’t like frozen fish. Only give fish away to elderly or to handicapped. Try to go quail hunting these days. Mostly all your going to shoot is pen raised birds.Not the same. So again what can we do to stop progress & Livescope? Maybe I should change my name from silverroach to canepole! Not a rant just the facts for the most part. I think we are all together. But there’s a bigger picture always.

Reading back over this brings something to mind for me. I’m not against or for. Y’all could all catch more fish than me with or without livescope. I’m not a great fisherman but love trying. But one thing I do know and I’m pretty good at is playing music. When I started there were no free lessons and countless videos on YouTube. I had to drive miles and buy albums and bring them home and play them over and over trying to copy the licks from the album. I’ve wore out countless albums and had to drive those miles again to get another one. Still haven’t learned all the licks from some of them. Then I see kids today who have all of that at the touch of a finger. And because of that they are better at 15 than I will ever be. Technically anyway. But they can’t play with the same feeling and heart that I can. Because they didn’t work for it like I had to. Is it their fault?No. But I’ve saw it countless times where they get so good and it’s so easy that they just get bored with it and completely give it up. While since I’ve had to work for it I’ll love it the rest of my life. And continue striving to get better. I know this probably doesn’t make sense to most but just thought I’d put it out there.Hope y’all all catch countless limits however you go about it.

sure the pro's use it and have to be competitive in tournaments but still only a tiny % of us regular joes have fancy TM's and LS as cost and figuring out how to use it still too much of a bother. Much ado about nothing IMO as I know a couple of guys with LS who can't figure out what's up with them anyway. I put up a fair amount of large crappie pics on here and smaller ones too and enjoy the heck out of ketchn them but throw most back or give them away and do it mostly fishing off docks or banks without any electronics. today is nice day at LSL and will get out on the docks dipping and laughing everytime a bugeye grabs my jig and I toss it back. As a MT lake biologist told us at one of robbie and jeff's crappie fests couple years back, fishermen arn't as big a influence on crappie populations as we all think. This too will pass and as many have reported who have it biggest advantage is you don't fish dead water or structure and that's a good thing. Personally I'm too cheap to buy the advanced stuff even tho I could afford to buy it. Ketch enough with buddies telling me where there brush is and from past experience. Heck I've had a lowrance elite T1 my boys bought me for my bday for two years and havn't bothered to figure out how to keep it turned on.

I’m not directing this at anyone. Just a general comment.

It amazes me that a piece of equipment on a boat can be so decisive. I work hard for my money and have stuck my neck out to try to make something of myself. I provide for my family, support my church and buy what I want to fish with. If my style of fishing is okay with you, then good. If it’s not then tough. I’m tired of having to defend ownership of a LiveScope. If you don’t want one don’t buy one.

I use to to find fish, I don’t use it to hunt big fish but if I did that’s my business not yours. As long as I fish within the laws and observe the bag limits then that’s all any of us should expect the other to do. I’m tired of being judged based on others perceptions.
