Fur I started out using 14,11,and 8 on the front and yes they do get tangled from time to time. Has a lot to do with turning speed, length of line out and radius of your turn. After you do it a while you will get a feel for what works good. It doesn’t take much of a rod to pull with. No need to spend much $ just trying it out. Use what you have and if you like it then upgrade a bit. The 11 footers I still use are B’nM West Point crappie rods, caught them on sale for $4 each several years ago. Now I wouldn’t jig, spider rig or anything else with them but to pull a couple jigs they work fine.
