I was planning to go over to Swan Creek WMA and fish a couple hours Saturday morning. Going across the Hwy. 31 causeway I noticed a few willow flies so I put in at the park and fished along the causeway. No luck, it looked like they had a big willow fly hatch Friday and had mostly died off. I guess the fish were full they did not want my jigs or Beetle Spins. There were tons of dead willow flies right against the bank in the water, and right against the band was where I got all of my bites. One of those days I could not get a hook in a fish if my life depended on it. I will start keeping a few flies and my fly rod in the kayak, it might have made a difference.
