I run 4 short rods in back and 2 up front on each side 10s and 6ft. But you will have to try different things every boat will be different. Start small and add rods as you go. As far as jigs get some in all sizes 1/23 1/24 1/16 and maybe a couple of 1/8 if you're fishing deep lakes like Marin or wedowee.
