    Default Logan Martin

Fished yesterday evening shooting piers caught 6 fish. Only 2 keepers. has the spawn already happened on Logan martin? I haven't fished it at all this year till Saturday. I have only shot piers all my life and am currently setting up for long lining. Any one got some good ideas for Logan Martin trolling?

I haven't been on Logan martin in weeks but I would think they are spawning right now that's why you're not catching them on docks. They will move to the docks after the spawn. Try fishing banks and trolling close to the banks in 10 to 12 feet of water. I was at west point all week and we caught them on the banks and lay downs the spawn was in full swing. We only found one dock that had fish because most of the fish were on the bank spawning. Hope this helps.

A friend told me they spawned on Logan Martin a couple of weeks ago. They seemed to be trying to spawn on Neely Henry late last week. This time of year they will not hold around the docks too much even though you may find some. If you want to fish there this time of year you should learn long lining or work around the banks and fish different areas till you start finding some fish. Good luck and give us a report if you get to go.

I guess that shows my lack of expertise. I always "assumed" when I was wearing them out early spring under piers that they were on the bed spawning. I'm still trying to get set up to troll. Have my rod holders 10 ft rods and just got a depth finder. It's a Lowrance elite 5x chirp. Hopefully that's good enough for helping me find some crappie. I've never been able to catch crappie year round and I want to learn all the different phases and where the move around to throughout the year as Temps cHange. I'm glad I found this site. I created a fb group for central Alabama crappie fishing hoping it would catch on and get some tips and tricks and fishing reports. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
