Default Kayak Trip Report, Garth Slough

I went looking again today in the wind. I tried spider rigging 6 poles working stumps, but only caught two or three short Crappie. Rough going with it white capping in a kayak. After getting tired of fighting the wind all morning I start working laydowns with a single pole. Best bait was a 1/16oz jig head with a pink and pearl Bobby Garland. I seemed to find two or three on any laydown in two to three feet of water.

Good day, nice to finally find the Crappie doing what they should be in April. I had a 50/50 mix of males and females. Females all had eggs, no bloody tails yet on the males. At least they’re starting to move shallow and school up. FYI, I tossed back many keepers and dozens of short fish, even caught a six pound bass jigging around an old tree.
