A big part of the problem is that they killed off most of the grass from Roseberry. So the crappie are on docks and laydown trees. Quite a lot of crappie have been caught from the bank in other places where there is milfoil.

Tadpole is so right. You have to remember Roseberry has been poisoned several times each year for several years now. It's iffy at best. Hard to establish any sort of pattern there. It used to be one of the healthiest parts of the lake, not now. They also like to dredge up spawning areas where nobody should even think of putting in docks, as in 2 foot of water for long stretches coming in and out. That leads to people from out of state - who are duped into buying the places because they don't know the lake - getting mad some more when the weeds naturally appear, so they spray some more. Vicious, foolish cycle there. Lot of people have boycotted the area. If you do fish it, you can't be assured of anything - including if what's in your live well is edible in the first place.

makes sense although I was seeing patches of grass on the down imaging here and there. Cold hasn't helped it much either. Do you know if there is grass in Jones cove, South Saulty or North Saulty?

No grass anywhere, really, yet. Just remains in some spots down deeper. Otherwise, very, very light starting growth in some areas at the bottom, but hardly anywhere yet, and the normal sticks left from lily pads. Lily sticks are great spawn areas for bass and shellcrackers, not as much for crappie I've found.

I was in Jones Cove today and there isn't any grass to speak about. I found a little emerging grass on the right bank as you go around the bend into the cove. It was in about 4-5 foot. That's all since the cold got most of it.
