    Smile Guntersville Report

Left the friendly confines of Weiss to Fish Guntersville last sat 3/21. My Dad who is 87 drove down from just across the Tn. line and met me. We started at day break in Roseberry creek long line trolling. Caught 2 slabs within 20 minutes. Fished till 3:30 with out cathing another fish. Caught several green carp and catfish but the crappie were not there or completly shut down. Water temp about 57 degrees. Any way had a great day with my Dad. Some things are more important than catching fish.

Thanks for the report. Spending time with family makes a slow day of fishing all worthwhile

Went out on Guntersville on the same day and had no luck. We stayed out all day and caught a few Bream and one catfish.

I noticed the bait fish have all but disappeared in the Roseberry and goose pond area. Two months ago the bait was thick then nothing, maybe the crappie followed who knows? The Big-G is not producing.

I fished Rosebury Friday longlining, and like you I caught 4 really quick but then never caught another one. I talked to two other boats and they had never even gotten a bite. One guy had fished 5 days most of the day each day and only had a couple fish each day. Some fish are being caught there in shallow water I think on minnows, but it is hit or miss, they might catch a lot one day and then not catch much for a trip or two. I have had some pretty good days lately, and then some pretty slow days.

Glad you got to spend time with your dad. I have been missing fishing with my dad this year, will probably be mid summer before he is able to go fishing again. Will probably have to do some fall fishing this year to make up for the lost time. I did spend the day fishing with my daughter today, was her 8th birthday. Made a slow day fishing enjoyable. She even enjoyed it even though she complained about being bored a few times. Looking forward to the day that she is my regular fishing partner.

A buddy of mine fished a local small lake here in Georgia where we have caught plenty of Bass and Crappie, yesterday. He said he could see the fish but they just wouldn't bit. I think it's the weather as we need about a week of warm days. I think next week will be good.

Enjoy time with your Dad. One day you will wish you could go with him one more time. I Fished Weiss yesterday and fished some places my Dad and Granddad used to fish together and I could see them there and it was just great memories. Times I will never forget.
