I've cranked lake Martin before. Put in at the church and cranked the area in the square. Got some interesting sonar returns at the old house foundation. No hits from fish. Got into a wazoodle of white bass north a few miles of the picture. Wore them out on some spinning rods counting down crappie jigs. No crappie were caught in several days of fishing, but a pretty lake.

Dang it mannnn, that was on my list to try that area. I've had peeps tell me they caught some single poling in that area. I have my doubts about crankn on Martin now but I've got four more places I'm Gonna try.

Not all lakes are easy cranking lakes but if you figure it out it will be worth while. Go to the levy when all else fails, no telling how many get caught off the levys over here.

Yep Rees , that's my next trip . Headed to the dam this week. Gonna single pole a spot then head to dam. And try em out. On my first outing I realized I was going from 15 fow to 50 fow in some areas pretty quick. Not as consistant as you guys have in sippi. Plus I hit a trot line and lost 3 bandits at once. Lot of this on Martin.

I would also try to go to places that produce more White crappie than Blacks. Seem the whites are much more willing to hit the cranks vs the blacks.

I thought the very same thing Bob D, but on my last outing three of the four crappie I managed were blacks.

I have yet to catch a black on a crank. A fair number of whites. Hope PW1 that I can find some of those foolish blacks because I know they way out number the whites where I fish! Lol
