I can't get into the kayak thing. I believe it's the propulsion system that spooks me. I have a much larger girth than most of you. I guess that's why my kayak has a 150 Mariner. Maybe that's why ditch is killing us. We can't get into the holes he's fishing. I vote ditch basser for president.

You make me want to go buy a kayak. First I would have to learn how to keep from flipping it, then I would have to come to you for lessons

My second kayak is a Native Ultimate 12, stable as a rock (Z-man has stood up in it), a 350 pound capacity and the seat is basically the same as setting in a lawn chair with short legs. By the way superfly, I'm 46 years old and weight 241 pounds, not exactly skinny, LOL!

Got any tips for Blackwell swamp? Thinking about going there one afternoon after work in the next week or so.

I've only fished it a few times. Hard water to fish for crappie because of all the vegetation. shallow water and very clear. I'd guess it would be a great area for a weedless topwater for bass in the morning. There's some deep holes on the North side and the creek connecting to the lake on the south has open water and lots of shade.

Hard fish without a yak to get around.

True. I fish there out of a flatbottom with oars.

I use to live in Decatur. Is the slough your talking about the one located in the curve after you cross the bridge heading out of Decatur?

    BoarBuster,

It's drained by the same creek and part of the same Whitesprings Dike dewatering area, but isn't accessible from that end. I drive past Arrowhead landing until the gravel road dead ends at a bar gate under I-65. I then walk my kayak down the road (approx. 1/2 mile) on a cart.

Yeah Ditch, I'm 43 and I'll go about 290 before breakfast. That's a lot on a 5'11" frame. My hat is off to you for having the energy to do what it takes to make it happen. I lost that drive some time ago.

    superfly,

I have one hobby, fishing. I don't split my time between fishing, hunting, softball, etc. I know it seems like I fish a lot, but I usually fish from daylight till around lunch. That's about the time my wife and daughter get moving and want dad to go to the mall shopping, LOL. I give up a little sleep for my time and they still get the family time they deserve.
