    Default Logan martin report

Decided to try Logan Martin today and was rewarded with a good day even though I had to fight the wind most of the time. Caught 50 crappie and 12 trash fish. Found fish stacked up around cover around humps and ledges near deeper water. Caught them from 12 to 17 feet deep. Water temps were 69-72 where I was fishing. Caught them spider rigging on minnows and jigs tipped with minnows.

Sounds like a good day. I was stuck inside all Day doing a Pro Show for Sherwin Williams. This work thing is really beginning to get in the way of having fun.

I did not fish that area. I started to but like I said the wind was tough in certain places and kept me from fishing a couple of spots that I wanted to. I did fish one place behind that island towards the back of the cove where a submerged bridge is that has brush piles on the deeper sides of it. I fished in 4 different spots and caught fish off all of them. I just tried to think of places I knew where they would be hanging out on their way back out to deep water for the summer. I will try to follow them to the edges of the deep drop off if I can to continue to find them. I have caught them as deep as 25 feet during the summer and winter when they are deep. I feel sorry for you guys who have to work during the week and cannot fish when the lakes are not covered up with the weekend folks out playing. I worked for 43 years and did the same thing so I know how it is. I thank the Lord each day that I can now enjoy this time in my life. Everyone have a blessed day.

Hit Logan Martin today and it was real tough. Marked lots of fish but they all had lock jaw. Only caught 3 fish long lining. I guess I should have tried spider rigging and going deep, but I'm still trying to learn the boat and stuff like that. Was a good day all the same.

USAFRET99 they're there, just not biting. Big balls of fish and bait on the outside edge of that island towards the channel.
