Despite what most people will tell you, water temp is only a small portion of the recipe for the crappie spawn. Waer clarity, water level stability, and length of the days are all a big part of making the fish drop their eggs. I fished competitively for crappie for over 20 years and I would bet the farm that the crappie have not spawned at Weiss Lake or the upper Coosa area either. The big females are stagging in medium depth water right now just waiting for the right conditions to occur. Look for shad on your depth finder/graph, if the shad are there so are the crappie.
