I'm with Ditch Basser I would love to catch someone trying to break into my truck but worried what I would do. Bob D- it is a sad day and time when you or your family can't go anywhere with out protection. That's why if I have pants on I'm carrying and so is my wife!!!

    KD14,

I'm not trying to make a political statement, but the Newtown Massacre/Sandy Hook School shooting caused me to re-look a lot of things in my life. When you consider the teachers ran towards the gunfire, but were helpless to do anything, I decided I'd never be unarmed again if it was legal for me to carry. That's why I hope I never encounter them breaking into my vehicle. The sheriff will be called and the crook will be waiting quietly, one way of the other.

you will not encounter this at arrowhead or most other places I fish. these guys are in for a quick score and can see if a boat was approaching the ramp and can easily see if a vehicle was coming either way down the road. some type of game camera is the only way of possibly ID ing them. even if I had binoculars and saw them break in there would be no way to get to the ramp before they are long gone. I should have taken the drill and saw out but, hell what is a toolbox for. this is very frustrating. I might check some pawn shops.

Alexava, hate to hear about your loss. That is one reason I launch from work most of the time. We have a non public ramp that is patrolled by guards. I had my tool box messed up years ago at Hickory Hills, thieves did not get anything but messed up a good aluminum side box, someone must have scared them off. Makes your blood boil.

The Federal Law changed in 2010. Basically if you have a permit that allows you to legally carry a handgun concealed standing outside the gate/property line of a national park, wildlife refuge, etc then you can carry on. If the state has a law prohibiting concealed carry in state parks for example then you may also be prohibited in NWR within that state. Some federal property is exempt like Redstone Arsenal.
