Guntersville Crappie
Hi guys! New to the forum and I had a question. My dad and I will be down at Guntersville March 6th-11th and I was wondering how you all catch crappie on Guntersville? Any tips would be appreciated. I was down there last year about the same time, but only bass fished. I think everyone and their mother was tied up under the bridges crappie fishing! I'd rather not do that, and I'd like to find them somewhere else on the lake without having to tie up to a bridge. What do I need to look for structure and cover wise? Grass? Channel ledges? Flats with stumps? etc....?

I love fishing the tree tops and the laydowns along the shore line 5 to 8ft deep.Right now drifting with floats over the flats should be working just find the wind and drift with it.I also love fishing it night this time of year near the creek chanels close to the flats were thier is grass close by.. or the ripp rap along the cause ways seems to do great this time of year the bait fish love it because I think it retains the heat from the sun.

Flats with stumps in a boat or steep banks with trees. Try boyscout bay N of Scottsboro.

I did and end up with 8 very good size crappie and 8 shellcrakers, most of the crappie came out of 1 color jig ( I only had one on the boat of that color ) If I had more of that color I would have probably gotten a limit. in the front seat of my truck sat a new package of that color jig!!! I wanted to kick myself in the butt!!!!!!!!!
