I want to catch big ones to eat lol I've seen videos on youtube where they catch them in lakes, even in fairly deep water with traps, do the lakes around here not have any?!

Aldredge creek used to hold a lot of crawdads but you gotta watch the weather. The traps will be swept away quick. Look at youtube as well for traps. 8yo kids all over YouTube w plans and designs. I use sardines.... Never had a prob. Close to Athens????? There's a drainage creek that runs thru Athens that holds many as well from what I've heard

We have caught quite a few crawdads at blackwells swamp go down to where the runoff of the swamp runs into the river and load up.

I know we have had luck on the refuge when they start to drain the fields. There's a drainage ditch that you can go in there and load up if you catch it right. We always watched for the first full moon in either may or June I can't remember it's been awhile.

They are so thick in there that you just can walk the bank and use a net a scoop them right up!! Some may not believe me but I remember when I was younger they would be so thick it would like like the bottom of the ditch was moving if that makes any sense haha
