Moose, i've been fishing long poles for close to 20 years now. Here's the solution for getting the tangle loose from the tip........... TAKE THE TIP SECTION OFF. It's a lot easier working with the short section, and quicker too. I need to try that reel magic too.

Default B&M vs Richard Williams Poles

Moose, More than likey, the problem is the line you are using. It either has too much memory, or it has been on your reel too long. B&M poles are very good poles. I use them a lot. The main reason I started making poles is so there would be a good crappie pole that every one could get a very reasonable price. I am also coming out with a very good spinning reel that will sell for $13.75.

I have a Sam Heaton 7' Super sensitive pole. I've kicked it, caught 19 lb cat's on it, caught 4 lb SS on it and the sucker keeps on. BnM is without doubt the best rod I've ever had.

I'm fishing with a Shimono, fighting drag with 6lb test. Best I've ever had.

Probably Richard and Jerry can tell me what I'm doint wrong? I'm sure Fatgirl will agree with whatever they say

Hoot, If you like the SS rod I think you will really like the "new" BnM Float & Fly rod. Jack Wells sent me a prototype a couple of months ago. I'm not much of a F&F fisherman but I use it as a trolling & jigging pole...It is great....I don't know what the price will be but I think the rods will be out sometime this month...You can give one a try or I will send you this prototype to try.....

    Hi Duane

Yeah, I do like the reel. It was on your advice about a year ago that I bought that set up. This is my second Sam Heaton. I stepped on the first one.

I have owned only one B&M pole, a 13' black widow. Whether it was a fluke or a defect or operator error, I can't be sure, but it broke just above my hand while playing a 10 pound catfish. I have been using 10' and 13' foot Dolphins and never have had one break yet. I will not base my opinion of B&M on this one rod, but I can get the Dolphins much cheaper and they haver performed well to this point.
