Buckle down and hang in there. Stay safe and warm.

Power went out at four am, trees breaking outside sounds like a war zone. And the cold we’ve got coming, this is gonna be a mess.

Times like these calls for a woodstove. heat and a way to cook if the power goes out. I have a Coleman propane stove, several small bottles and a big 10lb bottle. Generator to keep the fridge and space heater going...At 4am it was 3* on the thermometer. currently 5* with windchill of -14. We got 4" over night, (lightly falling fluffy dry snow, I cleared the deck last night before heading to bed), then again this morning...the owners hasn't done nothing with the roads in the trailer park/ Mobile Home Park yet...May not at all. Would be nice if they at least did the hilly parts at least. When this snow gets packed, these little hills become impassable for days...

We don’t have any real accumulation of snow in Central MS yet because the temp has been above freezing——still 34*F right now. We do have a tad of snow or sleet that hasn’t melted away from the rain that he had all morning, although I’m seeing accumulation of ice hanging on shrubs and structures not attached to the ground.

If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.S10CHEVY LIKED above post
Steady 4 * with a wind chill of -14. Here's my front porch...the deck I swept off 2 hrs ago...just saying. The snow isn't supposed to stop falling here till sometime around 9 pm tonight...Attachment 513679

We got power and water back Monday afternoon. A whole bunch close around us are not so lucky. My Mom two and a half miles down, nobody knows when it’ll be back on.

Mom has power now yay! I can’t name them all, but many thanks to all the help from other counties linemen who came and pitched in - saw at least three different ones in my neighborhood. We wouldn’t be nearly this far along without them!

Trust me, there's no shortage of idiot drivers here in Minnesota. Every fall we get a little fluff overnight in late October or early November, and by fluff I mean less than an inch and a half, and the following morning the sheriffs depts and highway patrols are busy fetching these high velocity fools out of ditches lasting all day. With all the 4 wheel drives and all wheel drives on the road the people think they're invincible in the snow or on slick surfaces and all those wheels moving under power only blow the driver's support system all to heck once that vehicle begins to lose traction or begins to slip and they take the ditch dive deep enough they cannot drive out. And this is on flat land. Hills and curves just compound the poor driving.
I've lived here my whole life and drove commercial truck for a good many of those years and I have never been stuck or in a ditch, but then I respect what the weather hands us and change to more defensive driving when snow or ice cover the roads and I am for certain not going to be the first one to cut a track on that stuff. Everyone's in such a fuming hurry today and figures the type of drive in the vehicle they have will handle anything mother nature tosses their way. I honestly think that drivers between 18 and fifty should have to take and pass two exams before they can drive in the winter EVERY year. First to understand that THEY are responsible for proper driving technique, not the vehicle. Second, if they cannot change their own flat tire, they cannot drive until they know how to and can.
Reached 78 degrees here today. I sighted in my turkey gun.
Would have gone fishing except my grandson has my boat for the weekend for a high school fishing tourney.
Not to brag, but the next week has highs in the 70's. That's a bit unusual even for us in E. Texas.
